My first experience with matcha tea latte was a disaster! I tried it with a friend in a cafe and it was the worst drink we’ve ever had. We could just have a sip and unfortunately it was enough to hate it. I couldn’t understand how it got popular so fast. On social media, everyday I see someone drinking matcha tea latte or cooking matcha brownie, preparing matcha yoghurt, ice cream… Then I made a search about matcha and found lots of unbelievable results and decided to make up with it 🙂
It’s a different form of green tea, because matcha includes green tea leaves also. Drinking matcha means drinking powdered leaves and this makes matcha a stronger source of nutrients than regular green tea. It’s full of antioxidants, with only one cup you can take ten times more than a cup of green tea. It boosts the metabolism, slows the growth of cancer cells, helps to loose weight and it’s great for our skin and brain health… If you want to go deeper, you will see countless benefits of this popular tea and that’s why I decided to train myself to like it.
However, knowing all the benefits wasn’t enough because I had lost my trust in coffee shops 🙂 I thought I could learn or create the best way to prepare it for myself so I found myself searching matcha recipes as though I’m a big fan!
So, here is my recipe with special thanks to Hande;
1 teaspoon matcha tea
1/2 cup hot water
1/2 cup oat milk (you can also try using almond or coconut milk)
1 – 2 teaspoon honey (or agave, other sweeteners)
1- Add your matcha tea and honey to 1/2 cup of hot water (not boiling) and stir well. I recommend using bamboo whisk for this stage.
2- Heat the milk and it should be warm not boiling. Then use a milk frother to make foam.
3- Mix the milk and matcha tea. Stir it again gently.
If you find or create another matcha recipe, please tell me about it. I’ll be waiting your e-mails to firstname.lastname@example.org
Let this super tea help us to create a feeling of overall wellbeing!
